7th ascent overall. Equipment was carried up to attem pt the vertical granite headwall, but
regular afternoon snowfall and severe spindrift quickly stopped progress. The low er section
o f the new route follows a glacier and steep snow and ice before joining the original route
a t the steep and rocky west ridge which leads to the summit. Keith M ilne and Tom Prentice
reached the summit on June 6th 1992.
Rudugaira (5364m) was climbed by Gordon Scott, Tom Prentice and Susan Grimley. A
nearby un-named peak (c.5100m) was climbed by Julian Fisher and Jordan Campbell. These
may be first ascents. Two new rock routes were climbed on un-named pinnacles up to about
5700m, although the summits were not reached.
An 8mm film was made o f the expedition. This will be edited into a single film to include
the previous attem pt in 1990.
Rock samples w ere obtained from the summit pyram id for Oxford University.
